Američka pevačica Keti Peri dobila je najviše nominacija i to za različite spotove sa njenog poslednjeg albuma Teenage Dream. Spot za pesmu Firework nominovan je u kategorijama Video godine i Najbolji video ženskog izvođača, video materijal za pesmu Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) nominovan je u kategoriji Najbolji pop video, dok je spot za pesmu E.T. nominovan u kategoriji Najbolji specijalni efekti.
Britanska zvezda u usponu Adel dobila je sedam nominacija za spot za pesmu Rolling in the Deep, isto koliko ima i Kanije Vest. Prošlogodišnja rekorderka po broju nominacija, Lejdi Gaga, ove godine nalazi se u trci za svega tri MTV VMA nagrade.
